teaching at peas

We're opening soon in Nyack! We’re aiming for a mid-September launch - and are excited to partner with talented, engaging instructors to lead enrichment classes for children ages 0–6 and their caregivers. If you're passionate about play, creativity, and building joyful connections with families, we’d love to hear your ideas!

This is a contractor position. You’ll set your own schedule and curriculum, and we’ll provide the support to help you succeed.

On this page you’ll find more about our class philosophy, how we hope to collaborate, and a form for sharing your vision.

Who You'll Be Teaching

  • Age Range: Most classes will be geared toward children ages 6 months to 6 years

  • Grown-up & Me Format: Caregivers are typically present and may participate in the class

  • Group Size: We anticipate class sizes to be between 5–10 children (plus their adults)

  • Mixed Ages: Expect a range of developmental stages in each class

Scheduling & Format

You bring the idea, we’ll help make it happen. We're open to a mix of series-based and drop-in classes, and we’re flexible about structure and frequency.

  • Class Length: 30–45 minutes

  • Drop-in or Series: You decide what works best for your content and style

  • Preferred Time Slots: Weekday mornings and early afternoons are likely to be most popular

  • Set-Up & Clean-Up: Plan for 15 minutes on either side of your class

Who We're Looking For

We’re looking for instructors that are:

  • Energetic, warm, and professional

  • Skilled at engaging young children and their caregivers

  • Organized and reliable

  • Creative and collaborative

You don’t need to have years of formal teaching experience — but you should have a clear vision, a thoughtful plan, and a genuine love for this age group.

Compensation

  • $10 per child per class, based on actual attendance

  • Additional bonuses may be discussed case-by-case

If you have a pricing structure or proposal in mind, we’re open to collaboration!
